4 Week Check Up

Monday, November 9, 2009

Can you even believe Summer is 4 weeks old already? Part of me feels like she's been here forever, the other part vividly remembers the epidural-free, natural birth with Tyler "catching" her and putting her on my chest like it was 4 hours ago.
She weighed in at 10 lbs 8 oz (90%) and measured 22 inches long (also 90%). Her head was only in the 75% though :-)
The nurse weighed her and shockingly said, "and you're only breastfeeding her?!?" When I said yes, she replied, "you need to bottle that stuff and sell it!"
Dr. Sears said she's "perfect" and that Tyler & I need to have lots of kids because we make perfect children :-)
Here she is on the table in the office.

Summer's Blessing Weekend

Words can not ever do justice to the wonderful weekend we just had. We were so blessed to be surrounded by family (we're talking 30+ people!) and enjoy spending time together.
Some things I didn't get pictures of but we'll keep our memories for a long time :-)

Summer got to meet many of her Aunts, Uncles and cousins for the first time.
Uncle Steve, Aunt Amy, Aunt Jenny, Aunt Laurie, Aunt Kaeli (she also met Aunt Michal, Uncle Jared, Uncle Evan, Aunt Tam, Uncle Sam, & Uncle Kim but the camera wasn't around for those. Sorry! And I have NO cousin pictures! How did that happen? :-( Next time for sure!)

Cami was GREAT about entertaining Scotty while Summer got so much attention.
So were Aunt Amy (flex those muscles!) and Grandma (stretch!)

On Saturday, Jen had a very special day. We drove down to San Diego and she was able to receive her endowment. She'll be going on a mission to Berlin Germany in February for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Tyler blessed Summer in Church on Sunday. She looked beautiful...although the only picture (again, how did this happen???) I have of just her in her dress is when she was in her carseat.
Here is our wonderful family that came out to support us. I love that we have been raised that "family comes first." Thanks mom & dad!!! And thanks to everyone who traveled in trains, planes, & automobiles to come! We appreciate and love you!!
And my immediate family (we missed you, Aaron!)
We had a great luncheon at Cousin Janet's house (thank you so much!!). Everyone had a blast visiting, eating & hanging out. It was the perfect way to finish up the day.
Summer slept most of the time in the moby or on Uncle Steve's chest.

When we got home, I went in the back room to nurse Summer while Scotty read some books in the living room. When I came out, I found him like this...don't think he ever got a book out of the bag :-) He had a busy busy weekend!!
Lots of family left on Sunday. Before my siblings took off for the airport, we were able to do a nice Sunday walk at Badlands Park (thanks Tyler for staying at home with both sleeping children so I could go with them!) It's pretty foggy but we were there for the sunset.
Mom & Dad stuck around for an extra day, took Scotty swimming at the hotel pool, had lunch with us down at the pier, and went grocery shopping for me (Thanks!).

A BIG thanks to EVERYONE who came down to spend this wonderful weekend with us. We LOVE you and appreciate your support & love. Can't wait to see you again very soon.
Much love from us all!
xxoo
And one more cute Summer picture:

Scotty Singing

Scotty loves singing (especially in the shower). Here he is singing one of his favorite songs, I will Stand Up.

I will stand up when “stand up” is said,
Place my hands on top of my head,
Bend down low and touch the floor,
Shake my hands (one, two, three, four),
Hands on hips and turn around,
Give a smile, and then sit down.
